A list of frequently asked questions about our community and events.

What is PyLadies?
PyLadies is an international mentorship group focused on helping more women become active participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. Our mission is to promote, educate, and advance a diverse Python community. PyLadies Kuala Lumpur is a local chapter dedicated to building a welcoming and inclusive environment for women who are interested in Python.
Is PyLadies an official training or IT company?
No, PyLadies is not a training company or a business. We are a volunteer-run organization and our events are based on the generosity of our members who share their knowledge and passion for Python. Our focus is on community building, not profit.
Do events have a fee?
While PyLadies is a non-profit organization, we may occasionally charge a small fee to cover operational costs such as venue rental, food, or speaker fees. Details for each event's cost will be provided on the registration page.
How do I attend a PyLadies event?
We host regular events including talks and workshops. Everyone is welcome to join our events! Keep an eye on our event page and social media channels for announcements and registration details. You can find links in our footer.
Why are some events for women only?
The tech industry has a very low representation of women. PyLadies was created to provide a comfortable and welcoming space for women to learn and share without feeling intimidated. By creating a women-focused environment, we aim to encourage more women to join and excel in the tech field.
